As Mercury’s longtime flagship car, the market placement for the Mercury Grand Marquis was a bit odd. This had been the Grand Marquis’ standard powertrain under the fourth generation. First-generation models utilized a larger 4.9-liter and 5.8-liter Windsor V8, both with smaller outputs. Meanwhile, second- and third-generation models had started using the 4.6-liter Modular V8 with varying outputs.

The 2011 Mercury Grand Marquis could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 9.2 seconds, which was solid for a midsize production sedan in its era. It also had a top speed of 135 mph.
