Returning in 2020 to the Lincoln lineup, the Lincoln Aviator features the peak of what the Lincoln brand can offer that differentiates it from regular Ford models. The Aviator was introduced in 2002 as a rebadged variant of the third-generation Ford Explorer. It is often called the twin brother of the Explorer but with a luxury twist. After a lengthy hiatus, it returned for a second generation and was based on the sixth-generation Explorer. In terms of size, the Aviator is bigger than the mid-size Nautilus but smaller than the full-size Navigator.

With sales of the 2024 Lincoln Aviator going strong, a 2025 refresh was unveiled in early 2024 for the Aviator’s 2025 model year. Like the previous year, Premiere, Reserve, and Black Label are all available as trim levels. The standard configuration is rear-wheel drive (RWD), but all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional. A 10-speed automatic transmission is also standard for all models.

How Much Horsepower Does a Lincoln Aviator Have?

The Lincoln Aviator’s twin turbo V6 is still one of the most powerful engines in the mid-size luxury SUV market. Introduced at the launch of the second generation, the powertrain produces 400 hp and 415 pound-feet of torque. Thanks to the Aviator’s muscular engine, it can tow up to 5,000 pounds and carry about 1,500 pounds of payload. A test done by Car and Driver magazine yielded a 0 to 60 mph time for the 2025 Lincoln Aviator Reserve RWD at 5.4 seconds.

How Big Is the Cargo Space in the Lincoln Aviator?

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator has a maximum cargo capacity of 78.6 cubic feet. With all seats up, the default cargo volume is at 19.2 cubic feet.
