The Ford Transit Connect is a compact car-derived van sold by Ford in Europe and Turkey since 2002. It was introduced in the US in 2009. Models in Europe are marketed under the nameplate Turneo Connect, and feature side windows and rear seats. The Transit Connect can be considered a smaller version of the Ford Transit. But the Connect’s smaller size is closer to that of the Ford Aerostar, which ended production in 1997.
When the Transit Connect was introduced in the US, the long wheelbase version was offered. It was equipped with a 2.0-liter Duratec I4 engine that produced 136 hp and 128 pound-feet of torque. For a small cargo van, max payload was rated at 1,600 pounds. Modern safety features were already standard, which included a 4-wheel ABS and tire pressure monitoring.
The 2023 Ford Transit Connect is the last model year for North America, with sales discontinued starting 2024. The 2023 Transit Connect is still a crowd-pleaser with solid sales figures for its segment. It is powered by a 2.0-liter I4 engine, maxing at 162 hp and 144 pound-feet of torque. Max payload capacity hasn’t changed much, rated at 1,613 pounds. Wheels for the base trim are 16-inch sparkle silver-painted steel with full covers. Comfort features include a 6.5-inch touchscreen supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front carpet flooring and rear carpet mats, and two power outlets.
