The Ford EcoSport is a subcompact crossover SUV that Ford has produced since 2003 but was only recently introduced in the US for the 2018 model year. The EcoSport shares a platform with the Ford Fiesta and Ford Fusion. Although the EcoSport ended production in 2022, it is massively popular in Brazil, where it will make a return in 2025.
Debuting for the 2018 model year in the US, the EcoSport was available either in a front-wheel drive (FWD) or four-wheel drive (4WD) configuration. FWD models were equipped with a 1.0-liter EcoBoost intercooled I3 engine that produces 123 hp and 125 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, 4WD models received a stronger 166-hp, 2.0-liter I4 engine. Trim levels included S, SE, SES, and Titanium. SES was exclusive as 4WD. For the 2022 lineup, 4WD was standard and the smaller engine option was dropped. The EcoSport was the smallest SUV in Ford’s lineup, with the base model barely weighing 3,000 pounds.
